Product Overview
The Headline Filters Model 122 SilcoNert® 2000 combines our compact, high-pressure Model 122 stainless steel filter housing with an inert surface treatment specifically suited to demanding analytical and sample conditioning applications.
The housing is manufactured from 316L stainless steel by Headline Filters in the UK before being treated with SilcoNert® 2000 by SilcoTek® Corporation in the USA.
This coated version is intended for applications where maintaining the composition of the sample as it passes through the filtration stage is particularly important.
Why Use SilcoNert® 2000?
In an analyser sample system, the filter housing forms part of the wetted sample path.
Certain reactive compounds can interact with untreated stainless-steel surfaces. This can result in adsorption of sample components, delayed analyser response, reduced recovery and variation when measuring trace concentrations.
SilcoNert® 2000 creates a highly inert silicon-based barrier over the treated stainless-steel surface.
This helps to:
- Reduce adsorption of reactive compounds onto stainless steel
- Preserve sample integrity through the filtration stage
- Improve analyser response
- Reduce sample conditioning and recovery time
- Improve repeatability at low analyte concentrations
- Minimise surface interaction with H₂S, mercaptans and other sulfur compounds
- Maintain the mechanical strength and pressure capability of the stainless-steel housing
The result is a filter housing particularly suited to analytical systems where sample integrity, response time and measurement repeatability are important.
Typical Applications
The Model 122 SilcoNert® 2000 is particularly suited to:
- Natural gas analysis
- H₂S measurement
- Sulfur analysis
- Mercaptan analysis
- Trace gas analysis
- Gas chromatograph sample systems
- Refinery analyser systems
- Petrochemical sample conditioning
- Process gas analysers
- Continuous emissions monitoring
- Laboratory analytical systems
- High-pressure analytical sample systems
Filter Housing Design
The Model 122 is a compact 316L stainless steel filter housing designed for gaseous and liquid process streams.
Its three-port configuration allows the housing to be used in a variety of analyser and sample conditioning arrangements, including coalescing filtration and bypass/return configurations.
The low internal volume helps minimise unnecessary sample volume within the conditioning system.
Filter Element Options
The Model 122 accepts Headline Filters 12-57 series filter elements.
A range of filtration media is available depending on the application, including:
- Disposable bonded microfiber filter elements
- Stainless steel filter elements
- PTFE filter elements
Different micron ratings and coalescing grades are available.
If you are unsure which element type or filtration grade is best suited to your analyser system, please contact Headline Filters for technical guidance.

Important Information
SilcoNert® 2000 treatment improves the surface characteristics of the stainless-steel wetted components but does not increase the pressure or temperature rating of the Model 122 housing.
Where very low-level or reactive compounds are being measured, the complete wetted sample path should be considered when specifying inert surface treatment.
For advice on filtration media, seal materials or suitability for a particular analyser application, please contact the Headline Filters technical team.
